Women’s rights are human rights.

In January 2017, The Women's March on Washington posted a call for art. Within a week, I created a poster to show that women deserve the same rights as any other human being. For this piece, I was inspired by the beauty of my friends of different racial backgrounds, religions, shapes, and sizes.

By the end of the month, The Women's March, in collaboration with The Amplifier Foundation, put together a traveling exhibition of 50 posters selected from over 5,000 submissions entitled “Hear Our Voice”. The exhibition was eventually picked up as part of Refinery 29's “29 Rooms” — a pop-up event that features a collection of 29 themed art installations spanning the topics of fashion, activism, music, beauty, technology, and more. The installations were created by artists, brands, and celebrities all over the world. The exhibition traveled to Washington, California, New York, North Carolina, Utah, and more.

While I recognize how art competitions affect the design community, I felt this was an important piece to make regardless of the outcome. Ultimately, I was able to support a cause I care about, spread the message of equality, and inspire others with my art.
