“Look at them dunes, dude!”

Bruneau is a typeface inspired by the unique forms of the Bruneau Sand Dunes in Idaho. It was designed for editorial use and works best for text at small sizes, but has enough character to work well at large sizes as a display typeface. Personality is conveyed throughout the characters through the angled in-strokes that reflect the slope and movement of the dunes. Unique counters have curved and unexpected points that reference the softness of sand and contrasting sharp peaks. Imagery of dunes and the physics of how the wind moves the sand into unexpected forms helped inspire the construction of the characters. The type specimen displays the full character set, features of the design, and different applications of the typeface.
